Brass Surveyor's Vernier Compass by Wyllys Avery, with 5 1/2-inch dia. silvered dial signed in banner Wyllys Avery, eight-pointed hatched rose with thistle-like fleur-de-lis at North, engine-turned hub and ring with compass points engraved in script, pierced blued-steel needle with central brass clamp operated from the underside, needle ring divided by individual degrees 0-90 in four quadrants, engine-turned bezel, vernier 30-0-30 adjusted by milled screw on the shaped limb, vial, socket and screw-on brass sights, ht. 8 1/2 x lg. 15 in., (older polish), in fitted brown-painted wood case containing part of a survey of "Willard Albee's 20 Acre Lot."
