Scott, Sir Walter (1771-1832), Autograph letter signed, two pages, May 16, 1800, to Messrs. Cadell and Davies, concerning the publication of a work celebrating ancient Scottish Border poetry and chiefly historical ballads and adding his modern interpretations of the same, "I have at present nearly thirty Ballads most them very long which with the necessary illustrations will make two handsome volumes in small oct(av)o. The title will be the Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders", with one page response from Cadell and Davies tipt to original letter, (very good).
