American School, 19th Century

Still Life with Fruit in a Footed Bowl. Unsigned. Watercolor theorem on paper, c. 1830, 14 1/2 x 18 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Toning.

Note: The watercolor paper used in this theorem is marked with the stamp of Thomas De La Rue & Co., founded in 1821 in London. The stamp reads "DE LA RUE & CO EXTRA LONDON," and is continued under the rabbet of the frame. A similar example of this theorem is found in American Folk Paintings From the Abby Aldridge Rockefeller Center, p. 177, figure 122.
