Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951)

Duck Stamp Design, 1942, published edition of 100 (Paff, 355). Signed "FrankWBenson" in pencil l.l. Etching on paper, plate size 3 x 5 in. (7.6 x 12.7 cm), matted together with the duck stamp, unframed.
Condition: Margins 1 1/2 inches or more, with stamp adhered within lower margin approximately 1 1/4 inches beneath the plate mark, abrasion to sky, subtly light struck.
N.B. Benson painted a wash of three canvasbacks for the 1935-1936 duck stamp he designed, but was asked to create an etching of the composition, which he did in 1942.
