Kicking-Crying Jules Steiner Baby, France, c. 1880s, solid dome bisque head with flange neck, deep blue paperweight eyes, open mouth with rows of upper and lower teeth, pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig, cloth-covered cardboard body containing mechanism, kid "underpants" form lower body and upper legs, lower legs and arms of composition with lightly waxed finish, white finger and toe nails typical of production for Au Nain Bleu shop in Paris, when wound the doll cries and moves head and limbs, period white lace and lawn dress with rows of insertion, lacy hat and undergarments, white socks and black leatherette shoes, ht. 17 1/2 in.
