Ashcroft's Steam Gauge Register, Boston, with 7 1/2-inch silvered dial 0-80, subsidiary regsister (lacking needle) 0-90, patent date Feb. 20 1872 and brass frame with shut-off lever, total dia. 10 in.
Note: Founded in 1852 by Edward H. Ashcroft of Lynn, Massachusetts, the Ashcroft Gauge became the industry standard for measuring steam pressure in American locomotives, ships and factories.
