Mahogany Empire Sewing Necessaire with Movement by Bordier, the piano-form case with dummy boxwood keyboard and five spindle-turned ebony legs, the lid lifting to reveal fitted velvet-lined tray of Palais Royale mother-of-pearl sewing instruments, including four "snowflake" thread-winders, embroidery scissors with pierced dolphin handles and etched gold floral roundels, awl with handle formed as a clenched fist, bodkin-holder, two spool-holders, thimble, scent bottle and other items, the recessed interior containing two-air sectional-comb (teeth grouped in fours) cylinder movement by M. Bordier, No. 9013, wd. 12 in.
