Early Black Dancing Automaton, possibly by Ives, c. 1870s, with carved and painted figure, jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees, on rectangular wooden base with painted tin platform and traces of red paint decoration, the open-spring motor causing figure to dance wildly, overall ht. 8 in.
