Carved and Painted Wooden Soldier Whirligig, America, 19th century, carved full figure with iron tack eyes, brass tack double breasted buttons on his red painted jacket, white breeches, black hat and boots, green painted rotating paddle arms, on a carved red and yellow painted base further mounted on a black painted wooden plinth, (scattered paint losses),ht. 25 in.

Provenance: Ex collection Mary Allis, Southport, Connecticut and Gerald Kornblau, New York City.
