Portrait of a Young Man with a Hoop, Signed l.r. "S. Perrett Pinxt 1855," oil on canvas, the full-length image of the boy wearing a belted black frock coat with a white collar and a black bow over white pants holding a wooden hoop in his left hand and a stick in his right hand above his upturned hat on the ground before a hilly landscape, sight ht. 38 1/2, wd. 30 1/4. Condition: Minor repair; paint loss, inpainting and a small hole, reframed.

Note: According to the Dictionary of Artists in America, Yale University Press, 1957, there were Perretts working as engravers in Newark, New Jersey 1860 and after.
