Federal Cherry Inlaid Slant-lid Desk, Samuel S. Noyes, East Sudbury, Massachusetts, c. 1810, the thumb-molded inlaid lid opens to an interior of central compartment flanked by three drawers and two valanced compartments above a case of four cockbeaded graduated drawers bordered by mahogany banding and stringing on tall inlaid cutout base, original brasses, old refinish, (minor imperfections),ht 45, wd. 39 3/4, dp. 18 1/4 in.
Note: Top drawer bears original label: "House Furniture, of the most fashionable kind, made, sold, and exchanged, by Samuel S. Noyse [sic], Cabinetmaker, East Sudbury, near the Causeway."
