Stowe, Harriet Beecher (1811-1896), Uncle Tom's Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly, Boston: John P. Jewett & Company, 1852, first edition, first printing, in two volumes, later gilt tooled brown morocco by Bennett, 8vo, (good).

Note: These volumes were a Christmas gift from the cast and crew of the play Harriet, to the lead actress, Helen Hayes. Harriet ran at Henry Miller's Theatre, New York City, from March 3, 1943, until April 1, 1944. Two signed cards to Ms. Hayes accompany the lot.
