Text in full: Paris-Sept. 22nd/You think the press is free Madame; It is not, the state of siege is a censorship, the worse it is a censorship which instead of my pen is a sword, and where the pen makes a turn, the sword makes a hole, from this, so pleasure is Liberty? I'll send your letter to Mr. Veignoir and he will probably make commendations for you honorable valiant husband. I bow to your feet-All my homage/Victor Hugo.
