Two Lithograph Silhouette Portraits: Thomas Cooper and John Randolph. 1844, identified in inscriptions in the matrix. Lithographs on paper depicting full-length silhouette portraits of the two notable men Thomas Cooper of South Carolina and John Randolph of Roanoke, Virginia, sheet sizes: Cooper 17 1/4 x 12 1/2, Randolph 16 3/4 12 3/8 in., framed. Condition: Minor toning, Cooper has a crease across upper margin.
Note: William Henry Brown was a traveling portrait painter and silhouettist of distinguished persons in New England, Philadelphia and the South. A book of his lithographs from his full-length silhouettes entitled Portrait Gallery of Distinguished Americans was published in 1846.
