Civil War Era Regimental Band Drum, c. 1862, red painted wood frame and shell with calfskin heads tightened with ropes, accompanied by a photo taken by a Portsmouth New Hampshire photographer of a young man in uniform identified on the back as "Daniel Grant in the service at 18 years of age in the Civil War."; a fragment of the original drum head is also included, drum ht. 14 5/8, dia. 18 in.
