Grain Painted and Gilt Stenciled Pine Document Box, America, c. 1825, rectangular box with hinged lid, grain painted exterior simulating rosewood with gilt stenciled designs of fruit and foliage decorating the top, gilt stenciled floral designs with green highlights embellishing the front and sides, with leaf and pendant pinecone motifs on black borders with ovolo corners, (minor paint losses),ht. 6 3/4, wd. 18 5/8, dp. 8 1/8 in.
