Description:

The Robert "King" Hooper Chippendale Mahogany Carved Scroll-top Bombe Chest-on-Chest probably Boston or North Shore, c. 1765-80, the upper case with molded scrolled pediment, terminating with carved rosettes flanked by urn-turned, flame-carved finials above the cockbeaded case of an upper central fan-carved drawer and flanking short drawers and four graduated long drawers below, all flanked by fluted pilasters with molded capitals and plinths set into bombe lower case of four graduated long drawers, on ogee bracket feet centering a carved central drop, original brasses, old finish, (minor imperfections and repairs).

Provenance: An inscription on the underside of a drawer reads, "This piece of furniture was carried from Marblehead, Mass [King Hooper House during the War of 1812 to Manchester for safekeeping was inherited in 1884 by Caroline K. Wyman, daughter of Henry N. and Priscilla Hooper.
In 1916 it was purchased by Dr. James R. (Gertrude F.) from Russ Maynard ..."
