Silk Needlework Memorial, Mary Balch School, Providence, Rhode Island, c. 1802-09, wrought by Eliza B. Padelford in memory of Miss Jane Macomber (died 1801), Phillip Padelford (died 1892), Phillip R. H. Padelford (died 1793), and Judith Macomber (died 1770); the stylized design features cascading willow trees over four memorial sarcophagi, each one identifying the family member with a silk inscription including age and date of death; the silk yarns are in shades of green, gold, tan, and black on a cream-colored silk ground, (background restored, reframed), ht. 21, wd. 27 in.
