Currier & Ives, publishers (American, 1857-1907)

TROLLING FOR BLUE FISH. 1866, (Conningham 6158). Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 23 7/8 x 32 3/4 in., in a molded maple frame. Condition: Margins of 2 1/2 in. or more, tear c.l., repaired tear u.r., light foxing, remains of old tape at top and side edges of verso.

Note: This lithograph was rated no. 10 in the original "Best 50," and no.17 in the "New Best 50" large folio.

Exhibitions: Milwaukee Art Museum , "Best 50 Revisited," June 8-September 16 1990. Exhibition label retained on the reverse of the frame.
