Two Sterling Silver Boatswain's Pipes, England and America, the American marked "STERLING" and inscribed "James Johnson --B Mate," the other with "JH& Co" and Birmingham hallmarks, year 1897-98, lg. 5 3/8, 4 1/2 in., approx. 2 troy oz.

Note: The boatswain is a ship's officer whose duties include summoning the crew to assigned tasks with the boatswain's pipe.
