Needlework Sampler, School Admittance Ticket, and Four Textile Fragments, worked by Clarissa Foster, Billerica, Massachusetts, 1793, silk threads on a linen ground, geometric floral border above two alphabet panels and stitched lettering "Clarissa Foster aged eight years Born April 16 1785 in the town of Billerica," and the verse "This work in hand my friends may have When I am dead and in my Grave," lower border with sheep and flowers flanking a tree, 9 5/8 x 9 5/8, unframed; a thin cardboard printed ticket reading: "THIS TICKET ADMITS Miss Clarissa Foster at Mr. Ingall's School one quarter, Billerica, Dec. 31, 1808"; 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.; four small partially embroidered fragments: one with stitched lettering "Clarissa Foster is my n," one with an alphabet and a partial alphabet, one with a lattice design, and a small handmade frame with practice embroidery designs on a piece of fine netting.
