CATCHING A TROUT. "We hab you now, sar." 1854, (Conningham 845). Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 21 7/8 x 28 3/4 in., in a molded bird's-eye maple frame. Condition: Margins of 1 1/2 in. or more, 1 1/2 in. tear l.r. corner mottled light staining, most prevalent to background sky and margins, minor foxing.
Note: This lithograph was rated no. 32 in the original "Best 50," and no. 49 in the "New Best 50" large folio.
Exhibitions: Milwaukee Art Museum, "Currier & Ives: Best 50 Revisited," June 8 to September 16, 1990. Exhibition label retained on the reverse of the frame.
