Chinese Export Armorial Decorated Porcelain Platter, Yung Chen, circa 1730, of oval form with scrolling foliate vines and birds interspersed by reserves, two with lions and two with entwined monogram "T.B.," the center decorated with the arms of Bootle, (wear), ht. 1 7/8, dia. 14 1/2 in.

Literature: David Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, p. 283 G1.

Note: According to Howard, this is probably the earliest of the three services ordered by the Bootle family, and the cipher is likely that of Sir Thomas Bootle, Chancellor to Frederick, Prince of Wales.
