Paint Decorated Pine Box, America, early 19th century, the rectangular box with hinged lid painted with an angel wearing a gown and a flowing red sash, holding an olive branch in one hand and a trumpet in the other hand issuing a green banner inscribed "PEACE UNTO, ALL WOMEN." in gilt and red lettering, linear gilt borders on top and sides on a black ground, the interior lid fitted with a mirror enclosed in a mahogany veneered frame, (wear, imperfections),ht. 3 1/2, wd. 10 7/8, dp. 6 7/8 in.
