Portrait of Jan Breughel, called Velvet Breughel, second state of seven (Mauquoy-Hendrickx, 1). Collector's marks Henry Brodhurst, England (Lugt, 1296) on the reverse and W.H. Carpenter, England (Lugt, 2926) l.r. Etching on paper with watermark of interlaced CC (similar to Mauquoy-Hendrickx's watermark 3),plate size 9 5/8 x 6 1/8 in. (24.4 x 15.5 cm),framed.
Condition: A very good lifetime impression with 3/4 inch margins, pale foxing.
Provenance: Through the estate of Edith Stuyvesant Dresser Vanderbilt Gerry to a private New England collection.
