American School, Early 20th Century Six Nations Stocade [sic]. Signed "Beaver-Indian Artist" l.r. Mixed media on canvas mounted on board, 23 1/2 x 33 in., in floral gilt gesso frame under glass. Condition: Scattered fox marks. N.B. The Six Nations Stockade was an exhibition in the Indian Village at the Pan American Exposition of 1901, staged in Buffalo, New York. The fair represented a microcosm of American culture in the McKinley period.
