British School, 19th Century

South Foreland and Broadstairs, Isle of Thanet, with British Brig. Unsigned, titled in later inscriptions on stretcher and lining transferred from back of original canvas. Oil on canvas, 10 1/2 x 14 1/4 in., framed. Condition: Lined, repairs, retouched, very minor losses.

N.B. Thanet is located on the northeast coast of Kent, and is an area of the mainland cut off by the arms of the river Stour. The inscription to the reverse of the work also reads "B pinxet 1825."
