Brown Composition Shirley Temple Doll, unmarked, known as "Hawaiian Shirley" representing Marama from 1935 movie "The Hurricane," brown painted eyes to side, open-closed mouth, molded teeth (small paint chip forehead), wig of black twisted yarn, five piece brown composition body, white silky floss "grass" skirt, paper lei, white socks and shoes, ht. 12 1/2 in. Literature: A Celebration of American Dolls from the Strong Museum, by Dorothy A. McGonagle, pictures a similar doll, and Judith Izen's Collector's Guide to Ideal Dolls, attributes doll to Ideal, p. 55 and cover.
