Federal Mahogany Veneer and Cherry Bowfront Chest of Drawers, probably Providence, Rhode Island, c. 1810, the cherry swelled top with veneered edge over a conforming case of cockbeaded drawers with light and dark figured veneers in outline above a circular cut-out veneered skirt on ring-turned swelled legs and similar feet, original brass, old refinish, (minor repairs), ht. 41, wd. 40 1/4, dp. 21 in. N.B. This piece has many cabinet making characteristics of Joseph Rawson (1760-1835), cabinetmaker who worked in Providence, Rhode Island.
