Elizabeth Y. Turner returns to Skinner as Regional Director for Northern New England, having previously been an appraiser in the Fine Jewelry Department from 1999 to 2002. In her new role, Beth will provide appraisal and auction evaluation services to collectors and consignors in Maine, northern New Hampshire, and northern Vermont.
As a child, Beth traveled widely in the United States and Europe. The many visits to museums and historic sites greatly influenced her career path into the world of antiques. Her pursuit of a Master’s degree in science from the University of Wisconsin proved to be a valuable foundation for intensive studies in gemstones, including graduate study with the Gemological Institute of America.
Beth’s broad experience includes independent appraisals of fine arts, antiques, decorative arts and jewelry, partnership in an antiques business on the west coast, and extensive concentration in the field of antique jewelry. She is therefore highly qualified to assist consignors who require expert evaluation of their property, and collectors who seek guidance in the acquisition of objects they treasure.
As well as academic knowledge, passionate curiosity and hands-on experience are essential qualifications that Beth brings to her new position. These qualities have played an important part in Beth’s decision to return to Skinner in a new role, after a number of successful years as an independent appraiser. She feels strongly that Skinner values and exemplifies these qualities.
She notes, “Without hesitation, I have recommended Skinner, for I have first-hand knowledge of their expertise in cataloging, advertising, with the highest degree of professionalism. In stepping back from my career as an independent appraiser, I wanted to continue my affiliation with Skinner.”
