Marketing Manager, Marlborough, MA

Description

As the Marketing Manager based between both the Boston and Marlborough Bonhams Skinner offices, you will work closely with the wider US marketing team from Bonhams, the internal specialist departments and be responsible for the coordination, planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns which may include digital campaigns, print campaigns, editorial content, social media, events, photoshoots, and ad hoc projects.

You will report into the Marketing Director and liaise regularly with colleagues in New York and London, as well as other cross-functional teams such as Press, Design and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regular sale specific kick-off meetings for Bonhams Skinner auctions, analyzing materials and consignments to craft an appropriate marketing campaign
  • The marketing campaigns for these auctions will include an integrated activity that might include digital media, print ads, events, and more
  • Work closely with Bonhams’ media agency to brief campaigns and campaign assets in a timely manner
  • Work with photography, graphic design, and internal marketing team to craft assets that align with the campaigns and their goal
  • Organize photoshoots and video shoots, including liaising with internal operations and external photographers/video producers/stylists, to ensure assets are delivered in a timely manner
  • Analyze post-sale the results of the campaign analytics across all channels, reporting back results to the departments on a regular basis
  • Brief to external writers and coordinate editorial content for relevant departments and sale campaigns —which will involve publishing content to Bonhams Skinner’s website
  • Work in Salesforce marketing cloud to build basic template-based email campaigns for Bonhams Skinner auctions and consignment messages
  • Track marketing spend and budget and process invoices in our internal billing system, sharing with the Marketing Director monthly
  • Support and post on Bonhams Skinner organic social media channels, as well as share content with Bonhams marketing coordinator to ensure content is posted across all channels
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with key stakeholders in the NY office and keep ongoing knowledge of business goals
  • Support on events coordination, which might include advertising, email marketing, and social media
  • Work with the team to ensure we deliver on valuation day tactics, including promotion of First Tuesdays in Marlborough and beyond

Administrator, Marlborough, MA

Description

The Sale Administrator is an integral role in the auction process, supporting the Specialists in the successful delivery of auctions as well as the day to day running of the department.

Responsibilities

  • You will be the department’s experienced user of Auctioneer 3, the bespoke Auction Management System and primary business tool
  • You will be responsible for managing clients and their property throughout the sale cycle, including receipting property into A3, generating, and issuing consignment contracts, requesting and uploading client details and payment management
  • You will be the Department’s primary contact for a range of external stakeholders ranging from our clients to restorers and suppliers, escalating to your Specialists when required
  • You will help co-ordinate the movement of property throughout the sale cycle, working with various departments, regional offices, Operations & Photography to ensure efficient and compliant stock transfer
  • You will work with Client Services and Operations to support clients with after sale enquiries, including the resolution of payments and arranging shipping quotes for both purchased and unsold lots
  • You will support departments with preparing valuations, condition reports and condition photography as required
  • As an important part, you will also support on many day-to-day auction activities and ensure the departments have all it needs to run smoothly and effectively. Tasks will include responding to client enquiries pre- and post-sale, bidding, and event management

Qualifications

  • Strong time management and organizational ability
  • Excellent communication in all modes with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage workflow and priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to support departments and teams outside of your core responsibilities
  • 1-2 years in an administrative position (not necessarily from an auction background)

Generalist, Appraisal & Auction Services, Marlborough, MA

Description

Bonhams Skinner is seeking an experienced Generalist of antiques and fine art to join our team of specialists. The Appraisal & Auction Services Department, located in our Marlborough office, is the first point of contact for individuals or organizations considering Skinner for appraisal or the consignment of material at auction.

Responsibilities

  • Complete appraisals for estate, gift tax purposes, and insurance complete with identification (country of origin and date) and clear description
  • Answer general inquiries regarding selling at auction and appraisal services
  • Answer client submissions for auction estimates
  • Provide in-house property review for consignment
  • Travel extensively to perform on site appraisals and evaluations
  • Liaise into the auction schedule to assist with sale registration, internet bidding, phone bidding, etc.
  • Night and weekend work as needed

Qualifications

  • BA or MA in Art History or material culture
  • 2-5 years’ experience in appraising antiques in an auction house, gallery, museum, or related field
  • Experience with the identification, evaluation, and completion of written appraisals of antiques and fine art
  • USPAP Certification a plus
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, attention to detail, can-do attitude
  • Ability to work in a face paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and deadlines

This role comes with long days when necessary in order to get the job at hand finished; some night and weekend work, and ability to travel overnight as necessary; must be available to work auctions as requested.

Responsibilities

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Picking up/packing property from customers’ homes, storage facilities, museums, etc.
  • Transferring property to our Boston Gallery when necessary
  • Unloading and loading trucks arriving or departing our locations
  • Packing/unpacking, and binning property
  • Inventory and database management
  • Managing pickups by clients, shippers, and third parties
  • Moving property to assist with photoshoots
  • Exhibition setup for public previews
  • Assisting clients during auctions and previews
  • Responsible for an auction duty (phone bidding, clerking, etc.)
  • Providing excellent customer service in a professional manner and problem solve in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related experience but will train the right person
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 80 lbs. based on needs of the role
  • Ability to understand, follow and execute written and/or verbal instructions
  • Flexibility in performing different tasks
  • Must operate with a sense of urgency, and have attention to detail

Qualifications
