Skinner Events and Appraisal Days

Buyers and sellers can benefit from the educational events that Skinner holds throughout the year, which cover various subjects in fine art and antiques.  Skinner appraisers also appear at over 100 venues each year to support cultural organizations in their fundraising efforts.

Lectures and Gallery Walks – Knowledge is the key to a deeper understanding and appreciation for art and antiques. Skinner’s appraisers routinely share their expertise by holding lectures and gallery walks at Skinner’s Boston gallery. Guided gallery walks allow attendees to examine objects and hear what makes an item historically or culturally interesting and understand the factors determining collectibility and value. While promoting interest in art and antiques among the public, these programs also enhance the auction experience for buyers and sellers. Buyers bid with greater confidence and sellers benefit from the exposure Skinner provides.

Appraisal Days – Skinner has been holding appraisal days for over 25 years – most of which are staffed by the same appraisers regularly seen on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow. (See Skinner & Antiques Roadshow.) Most of Skinner’s appraisal days are held as fundraisers for museums, historical societies, libraries, schools, religious institutions, and other nonprofit organizations. Many are open to the general public. For information on hosting an appraisal day for your nonprofit organization, please contact Anne Trodella, Skinner’s Appraisal Day Coordinator, at 978-779-6241, ext. 232, or email at events@skinnerinc.com.

Benefit Auctions – Skinner staff can give nonprofit organizations guidelines and recommendations for holding a successful benefit auction.  Skinner’s experienced auctioneers can be hired to conduct the actual auction.

For more information on how Skinner can help make your benefit auction more successful, contact Anne Trodella, Skinner’s Events Coordinator, at 978-779-6241, ext. 232, or via email at events@skinnerinc.com.
