Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Vase And Cover Sells For $37,600

An important Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Vase and Cover, estimated $10,000-$15,000, sold for $37,600 in Skinner’s July 2005 auction of European Furniture & Decorative Arts. The vase, made in England circa 1920, featured the highly prized Temple on a Rock design. The auction was a tremendous success overall, grossing over $1.6 million, and exceeding the high estimate for the sale. “Prices for fine ceramics were especially strong,” notes Stuart Slavid, Skinner’s Director of European Furniture & Decorative Arts. “This Fairyland Lustre vase saw a lot of bidding from the floor, as well as phones and internet.”

Skinner’s next auction of European Furniture & Decorative Arts is scheduled for October 1, 2005. For more information on consigning property for this auction, contact Skinner at 978.779.6241 or via email at european@skinnerinc.com.
