SKINNER TO HOST DISCOVERY AUCTION DECEMBER 13th-14th IN BOLTON

Highlights Include Silver, Jewelry, Textiles & Couture, Jewelry,

BOLTON, Mass. - November 29, 2007

- www.skinnerinc.com - Skinner, one of the nation's leading auction houses for antiques and fine art, will host a two-day Discovery auction in its Bolton, Mass. gallery on Thursday, December 13th and Friday, December 14th. Comprising nearly 1500 lots, the auction completes Skinner's 2007 line-up of sales.

Session I begins at 2 p.m. on Thursday December 13th and features a wide and varied selection of silver, jewelry, couture, and textiles. Silver begins the sale with over 150 lots of sterling, coin and plate silver. Makers include Tiffany, Gorham, Reed & Barton, Towle, George Jensen, Wallace, Whiting, S. Kirk & Sons, and Tuttle. Following silver is over 400 lots of estate and costume jewelry, including antique, Edwardian, Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and contemporary styles, many set with diamonds, pearls, and gemstones. Following jewelry is over 200 lots of vintage couture from a New York collection, including designs by Pauline Trigere, Pucci, Bill Blass, Halston, Oscar de la Renta, and Christian Dior. Also up for bid will be fine Victorian dresses, party dresses from the 1920s, vintage handbags and hats.

Session II, held on Friday December 14th at 10 a.m., begins with more than 100 lots of vintage cameras, followed by over 100 lots of toys, dolls and collectibles. Friday's offerings also include Skinner's usual eclectic Discovery mix of 18th 20th century furniture and decorative arts including American, European, and Asian offerings. Styles include both formal and country, plus Georgian, Victorian, Federal, Empire, Modern, and Chinese export examples. Also on offers will be a wide selection of paintings, prints, clocks and timepieces, glass, lighting, ceramics, rugs, and ephemera.

"Stylistically and economically, there will be something to satisfy everyone whether buying for the holidays or adding to a collection," remarks department director Kerry Shrives. "This sale offers something for everyone, in dozens of categories and in a variety of price ranges."

Previews and Catalogue Information

Previews for the auction will be held on Thursday, December 13th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, December 14th from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Illustrated catalog #2392 is available by mail from the Subscription Department at 978-779-6241 ext. 240, and is also available at the gallery.
