SKINNER’S HOSTS TWO DISCOVERY SALES IN SEPTEMBER

August 19th, 2005 www.skinnerinc.com - Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses for antiques and fine art, begins and ends the month of September with two different Discovery Auctions at its Bolton , Mass. gallery. To kick-off its fall auction season, Skinner will host a special one-day Discovery auction on Friday September 9 th beginning at 10:00 a.m. The end of the month features a two-day Discovery Auction on Thursday, September 29 th beginning at 5:00 p.m. , and Friday September 30 th at 10:00 a.m.

The one-day sale on September 9 th will feature over 600 lots of estate property including European, American, and Asian furniture, a selection of paintings, prints, and works on paper, plus a wide assortment of decorative arts including ceramics, metalware, china, art glass, textiles, Oriental rugs and carpets, and collectibles of all kinds.

The two-day sale at the end of the month will feature over 1,000 lots and includes Discovery’s usual fare plus offerings of textiles, couture, silver, silverplate, and a wide selection of antique, estate, and costume jewelry. Property from a prominent Woods Hole, MA estate will also be offered.

Skinner’s Discovery auctions are a great way for novice antique buyers and first-time auction goers to get their feet wet and experience the fun and affordability of buying at auction. Previews for the auctions are as follows: Previews for Sale #2285 on September 9th will be held Thursday, September 8th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, September 9 th from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Previews for Sale #2288 on September 29 th & 30 th will be held Thursday, September 29 th from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. , and Friday, September 30 th from 8 to 9:30 a.m. A free PDF download of the printed catalogues for both sales is available one week prior to each auction on Skinner’s website at www.skinnerinc.com. The website provides full-color thumbnail images and full lot descriptions, and best of all, allows users to leave bids online, and view prices realized in real-time during and after the auction.
