The Mary D. Gould Collection
Mary D. Gould began collecting Wedgwood in 1950 with the purchase of a blue jasper mug at a garage sale. For the next 28 years, she continued to collect, not only in California, but also on occasional trips to France and England. Her goal with the collection was to obtain as many different types of Wedgwood as possible, as she loved the variety of colors and styles. After her death in 1978, her husband, Charles P. Gould, continued to add to the collection. Their stated desire for when the collection passed out of their hands was to put it back on the market so that others could have the fun they had in collecting. Items from the collection are also being featured in the European Furniture & Decorative Arts auction in Boston on July 17th.
Musical Instruments
Over 75 lots of musical instruments will be offered, including an English Baroque Violin, several Neapolitan-style Mandolins, a Portuguese 12 string guitar, c. 1900 with heart-shaped rosettes, an S.S. Stewart American Banjo, and an American Classical Guitar, A. Chazau, New York.
