SKINNER'S APRIL DISCOVERY AUCTION FEATURES ART POTTERY, MILITARIA, CLOCKS, AND AMERICAN INDIAN ARTS


Two Day Sale held Thursday April 15th and Friday April 16th in Bolton, Mass.


BOLTON, Mass. - April 1, 2004 – www.skinnerinc.com - Skinner, Inc., one of the nation's leading auction houses for antiques and fine art, will host a Discovery auction on Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16, 2004 in its Bolton gallery. The Thursday evening session will begin at 6 p.m. and features over 300 lots. Friday's session will begin at 10 a.m. and features nearly 800 lots.

Sale Highlights
The Thursday evening session features a fine selection of 20th century art pottery, art glass, and collectibles. On Friday, sale highlights include over 75 lots of 18th and 19th century militaria such as weaponry, civil war arms, firearms, swords, presentation items, and photographic images.

Other interesting groupings in the auction include an assortment of Native American and Ethnographic art, recently de-accessioned from Wesleyan University. This material includes a nice selection of Navajo rugs and weavings, Kachina dolls, and several examples of Native American pottery and basketry. The auction also features a collection of clocks from a Connecticut clock collector including 19th century and early 20th century shelf clocks, mantle clocks, and wall clocks.

Additional Offerings
Eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth century American furniture and decorative arts also will be featured in this Friday auction, as well as a generous assortment of paintings, prints, and works on paper. Highlights include country and formal furniture, custom furniture, and Victoriana.

Previews and Catalogue Information
Previews for the auction will be held Thursday, April 15 from 1 to 8 p.m., and Friday, April 16 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. A free PDF download of the printed catalogue for sale #2235 is available one week prior to the auction on Skinner's website at www.skinnerinc.com. Thumbnail images and descriptions for the auction may be viewed at the same site. This site also allows users to leave bids, and view prices realized during and after the sale.

May 2004 Discovery Dates
Skinner hosts Discovery auctions every month in its Bolton gallery, less than one hour West of Boston. Each one offers something unique for every buyer and seller, every taste and budget. The next Discovery auction is scheduled for May 20 and 21, 2004.
