BOLTON, Mass. – July 1, 2002 -- www.skinnerinc.com-- Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses, announced today that it will host an August Auction in its Bolton Gallery in two sessions: Friday, August 9th at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m. Skinner’s August Auction features a wide range of offerings including American furniture and decorative arts, Victoriana, musical instruments, rugs, paintings, and collectibles.

Previews for the sale will be held Wednesday, August 7th, 2 to 5 p.m.; Thursday, August 8th, 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 9th, 2 to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, August 10th, 8 to 9:30 a.m. Skinner experts will be on hand at all auction previews to answer questions and conduct informal gallery walks discussing some of the auction’s more important offerings. Also, in conjunction with the Thursday evening preview, Skinner will present an informative lecture entitled “Demystifying the Auction Process: How to Buy Art and Antiques at Auction.” The lecture is a great opportunity for first-time auction goers to learn how easy it is to buy at auction. Thursday’s evening activities will begin at 5:00 p.m. In line with the auction’s summertime theme, Skinner’s café will offer casual cookout fare and ice cream.

“A casual summertime auction was a tradition at Skinner for many years – and we’ve decided to revive that tradition with a sale that offers something for every level of collector, no matter what your interest or budget, notes Karen Keane, Skinner’s CEO and an expert in American Furniture & Decorative Arts. “We’ve had an incredibly busy spring auction season in our Boston Gallery, and a fun, casual August Auction in Bolton seems like the perfect complement to round out our summer season.”
