SKINNER’S EUROPEAN SALE FEATURES TIFFANY SILVER, WEDGWOOD AND OTHER CERAMICS, AND GEORGIAN AND EDWARDIAN FURNITURE

BOSTON, Mass. – July 2, 2002 -- www.skinnerinc.com -- Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading full-service auctioneers and appraisers of antiques and fine art, will hold an auction of European Furniture & Decorative Arts (Sale #2150), on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 10:00 in its Boston, Mass. gallery. The sale will feature over 900 lots of British and European furniture and decorative arts including porcelain, timepieces, glass, paintings, textiles, and American Victorian furniture.

Highlights of the sale include over 250 lots of fine ceramics. Highlights including Wedgwood, late 18th century and early 19th century English pottery, and a selection of yellow-glazed Staffordshire and pink lustre decorated wares, both of which were de-accessioned from the Rose Art Gallery at Brandeis University, from the Edward and Bertha Rose Collection of Ceramics. Over 180 lots of fine silver is also featured including a Sterling Silver Goldwashed Seven Piece Tea and Coffee Service, attributed to Gorham; a Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver “Chrysanthemum” Tea Tray; and a Gorham Martele Silver Five Piece Tea Service. Other offerings include a selection of arms and armor de-accessioned from the Higgins Armory in Worcester, Mass. and from other private collectors.

The sale features a good selection of fine English, Continental, American and English Colonial Furniture, from the 18th –20th century. Of particular note is a Georgian painted satinwood bureau bookcase, circa 1790, a similarly designed piece from the Edwardian era, circa 1890; and a pair of French mid-19th century cabinets.

Previews for the sale will be 12 to 5, Thursday, July 11th, and 12 to 8, Friday, July 12th. There is no preview the morning of the sale.
