SKINNER’S TWO-DAY JUNE DISCOVERY AUCTION TO FEATURE
WALLACE NUTTING FURNITURE AND ORIENTAL RUGS & CARPETS

Other offerings include Estate Jewelry, Couture, Textiles,
and a broad array of furniture and decorative arts

BOLTON, Mass. – June 7, 2002 -- www.skinnerinc.com-- Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auctioneers and appraisers of antiques and fine art, will hold a two-day Discovery auction on Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 2002 in its Bolton, Mass. gallery. The Thursday evening session begins at 7:00 p.m. and features estate jewelry, couture, textiles, coins, and stamps. Friday’s session begins at 10:00 a.m. and highlights include a fine collection of Wallace Nutting furniture and over 100 lots of Oriental rugs and carpets. The Wallace Nutting offerings come from a single-owner Cape Cod collection dating to the late 1920s and 1930s, and feature original finish and condition. Highlights of the collection include a Chippendale-style mahogany Pembroke table, a maple chest-on-chest and tiger maple mirror, a pair of William and Mary-style tiger maple tavern tables, a pair of Windsor-style maple sack-back knuckle-armchairs and a William and Mary-style dressing table.

Carpets in the sale include Turkovan rugs from the Klein collection, Caucasian rugs, Suzanis from central Asia and lots of Persian mats.

“Skinner’s Discovery auctions typically offer something for every level of buyer, but our June sale features some really nice offerings, especially if you’re looking for antique or collectible furniture,” notes Kerry Shrives, Director of Skinner’s Discovery department. “Wallace Nutting can be credited with creating a popular interest in Americana, antiques and interior decorating. His furniture is particularly collectible since it is of great quality and its production was very limited.”

An auction catalog is available for $11 from the subscription department at Skinner/Bolton (978-779-6241 ext. 240). They can also be purchased at the gallery for $9. Prices realized at the auction will be available in real time at www.skinnerinc.com. Buyers who are unable to attend the auction can view the sale and leave bids online at www.skinnerinc.com.
