Skinner Discovery Auction to Feature Estate Jewelry, Silver and Native American Art
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – March 3, 2011 – Skinner, Inc. will host a Discovery auction on March 16th and 17th in its Marlborough gallery. The sale will feature estate jewelry, silver and Native American and Ethnographic Art, as well as furniture, decorative arts, paintings, prints, sculptures, pottery and much more.
The sale kicks off on Wednesday, March 16th at 2 p.m. with Session I. Offerings of estate jewelry include period, vintage and collectible pieces to suit every style and budget. Diamonds, gemstones, gold pocket watches, international and costume jewelry will be up for bid. Session I is also highlighted by American and international silver tablewares, flatware and accessories.
Thursday’s Session II begins at 10 a.m. with approximately 175 lots of Native American and Ethnographic art. Native American works include Navajo weavings, Eskimo carvings, and Santa Clara and Southwest pottery. Ethnographic art from African, Pacific, Central and South American cultures will be offered.
Session II is also highlighted by furniture and decorative arts with a country Americana bent as well as paintings, prints and works on paper, Oriental rugs and carpets, and clocks.
Discovery auctions are held monthly at Skinner Marlborough. Free and open to the public, the auctions offer the general public the rare opportunity to learn about art, antiques, and collectibles at auction, in a relaxed and non-intimidating auction setting. To view the auction property prior to the auction, attend the auction preview in person on Tuesday, March 15th, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 16th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or Thursday, March 17th before the auction, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at Skinner, 274 Cedar Hill Street, Marlborough, Mass.
