Skinner November Discovery Auction Features Studio Paintings & Country Americana
Auction Preview & Live Bidding Offered Online
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – November 1, 2010 – www.skinnerinc.com –Skinner, Inc. announced today that its upcoming November Discovery auction will feature a special offering of Studio Artwork, comprising American & European paintings, prints, sculpture & works on paper, all affordably estimated to sell to the highest bidder. Country Americana will also be on offer.
The two day, 1,200 lot auction, to be held at the Skinner Marlborough, MA gallery at 274 Cedar Hill Street, kicks off on Wednesday November 10th at 2 p.m. with over 500 lots of artwork. Featured will be works by several Boston area and New England artists including Blair Lent, Nord Bowlen, and Charles Peter Demetropoulos.
Thursday’s session begins at 10 a.m. Featured will be country, painted and formal American 18th, 19th and 20th century furniture, including a collection of Martha and Ralph Cahoon painted furniture. Also on the block, American, British and Chinese ceramics, pattern glass, art glass, metalwares, quilts, coverlets, textiles & rugs and all manner of decorative accessories.
According to Skinner Discovery department Director and Senior Appraiser, Kerry Shrives, “Skinner Studio Auctions are a great way for both beginning and seasoned bidders to participate in paintings auctions, and compete for the works of well-known listed artists.” Continues Shrives, “My advice is to preview—in person or via the internet—and know what you are buying by doing your research on the artists, period and medium. Discovery auctions are held monthly at Skinner Marlborough.
