BOSTON, MA – November 20, 2014 – Skinner is pleased to announce its holiday Fine Jewelry auction on December 9. Enjoy a sneak peak of some of the auction’s highlights in New York at a special Fine Jewelry preview event on Tuesday, December 2nd from noon to 7 P.M at The Culture Center (410 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY, 10024). Previews will also be held at the Skinner Boston Gallery on Sunday, December 7th and Monday, December 8th.

Signed Jewelry

A pair of stunning Edwardian platinum and diamond earpendants (Lot 744, estimated between $100,000 and $150,000) lead a selection of Cartier jewelry. Highlights also include an Edwardian platinum, pearl, and diamond plaque brooch, by Cartier (Lot 743, estimated between $40,000 to $60,000); and a contemporary 18kt white gold and diamond fish bracelet, also by Cartier (Lot 720, $60,000 to $80,000).

A group of signed jewelry from the Art Nouveau period represents the work of three premier French jewelers: Eugène Feuillâtre, Gabriel Falguieres, and Henri Vever (Lots 230-232, estimates vary). A plique-a-jour enamel table clock by Feuillâtre is a particularly significant piece. In 1900, the talented goldsmith and sculptor was awarded a gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition.

A variety of modern signed jewelry rounds out the auction with offerings from Bulgari, David Webb, Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels.

The holiday auction offers a selection of diamond jewelry for all occasions, including a gorgeous pair of old mine-cut diamond earpendants, weighing nearly 5 cts. each (Lot 726B, $50,000 to $60,000).  Searching for a beautiful engagement ring? Choose from such fine gems as a platinum and round brilliant-cut diamond solitaire ring (Lot 721, $50,000 to $60,000) and a colored radiant-cut diamond ring (Lot 723, $50,000 to $60,000).

Gemstones such as emeralds and jade add notes of color and luxury to your holiday wardrobe. A noteworthy strand of jade beads features an exceptional, carved pendant (Lot 734, $20,000 to $30,000), and an antique gold, emerald and diamond starburst pendant/brooch (Lot 731, $12,000 to $15,000).

An 18kt gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch by Patek Philippe (Lot 445, Estimate $65,000 to $80,000) leads a large selection of gentleman’s and lady’s watches, including nearly a dozen other Patek Philippe timepieces along with a variety of Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron & Constantin wristwatches.

Benefit Auction

Following the success of the September Fine Jewelry auction, Skinner is pleased to offer the second portion of jewelry from a private New England collection to benefit Campaign for Catholic Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rebuilding urban Catholic schools in Greater Boston.
