Walnut Slant-lid Desk, Pennsylvania, late 18th century, the molded lid opens to an interior of ebonized compartments, figured drawer fronts, and an inlaid prospect drawer flanked by document drawers, above the case of cockbeaded drawers flanked by quarter-columns on a molded ogee bracket base, replaced bail pulls, refinished, ht. 47, wd. 43 1/2, dp. 22 1/2 in.

The backboards and rear feet brackets have been painted grayish-brown, and one bracket may be replaced. There is a patched shrinkage crack to the lid. The ebonized surface to the interior may be enhanced. The prospect door has a slight warp. There is minor repair to the base - cracks to the feet, some added screws covered with wood putty. The drawer runners on the drawers and in the case have been replaced. A new strip of wood has been added to to the back edge of each drawer bottom.
