Brass Pocket Sundial, Paris, late 18th century, the octagonal plate signed "Le Maire Paris," bird-shaped hinged gnomon, engraved with roman and arabic numeral horary scales for latitudes 43, 49, and 52, glazed compass with fleur-de-lis at north and other intercardinal points in block lettering, the reverse engraved with the latitudes of twenty-four principle cities, in a stippled leather (losses),felt-lined case, lg. 2 1/2, wd. 2 3/4 in.
