Noh Choken Robe, Japan, 18th/19th century, depicting an overall pattern of clematis flowers and scrolling tendrils with three open fan motifs depicting a gnarled flowering plum tree and bird on the back and shoulders, all in gold metal-wrapped thread on a green silk gauze ground, lined in purple silk, wd. 78, lg. 41 in.
