Note: The clipper ship Golden Light set out from Boston on February 12, 1853. On the night of February 22nd, the ship was struck by lightning and set on fire, whereby the passengers and crew were forced to abandon the ship. Most of the passengers and crew were rescured by the ship Shand several days later.
