Set of Eight Black-painted Windsor Fan-back Side Chairs, James Chapman Tuttle, Salem, Massachusetts, c. 1795, the shaped serpentine concave crest rails above eight spindles with vase- and ring-turned stiles, shaped saddle seats on splayed vase- and ring-turned legs joined by stretchers, most marked "J.C. TUTTLE" or "JCT," ht. 36, seat ht. 17 in.
