Gillray, James (1756-1815) The Kitchen Below, or Belzebub Going to Supper. Hand-colored etching, numbered XIX. XX. in the upper right corner, the first issue of a caricature that originally appeared thus in Gillray's London und Paris, in the present version, the devil roasts a French cock over the fire, in the later re-issue, the rooster has become Napoleon himself, and the image is accompanied by verses; slight edge toning, signs of old folds, 14 3/4 x 10 3/4 in.
