Watercolor on paper, the subject bust-length, with red-striped waistcoat, 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 in. (sight),in an eglomise and gilt mat and period molded giltwood frame.
Condition: Toning and minor staining to paper, not examined out of frame.
Note: The reverse bears the label of Burr and Smith, "Looking-glass Manufacturers" from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Inscribed in pen, also on the reverse, is a note indicating that the subject of this miniature was born in 1789, and died at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1825.
